Postcard collage work is essential in my studio practice. The postcard format originated with my move out to California in the winter of 2003. Space at a premium, I create small dynamic works to send out to family and friends thereby connecting with home while fulfilling the creative urge.
The 'Cobain Postcard Series' is an on-going creation of collage postcards. I mine images from album art, magazines, and books, exploring segments and events in Mr. Cobain's life. Since these are postcards, I am no longer in possession of the originals. Perhaps I'm channeling Lucy from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and her overzealous affection for Barbara Steisand.
